NW Furniture Bank

At The Old Cannery, we've always believed a great business gives back to the community that supports it. One of our longest-standing partnerships is with the NW Furniture Bank — an organization that provides furniture to people in need, helping them turn a house into a home.

What Is the NW Furniture Bank?

The NW Furniture Bank collects donated furniture and household items and distributes them free of charge to families and individuals who have lost everything — whether through domestic abuse, fire, natural disaster, or other hardship. Many of the people they serve are coming out of transitional housing programs and are starting completely from scratch.

For someone who has just escaped a dangerous situation or lost their home in a fire, having a bed to sleep in and a table to eat at isn't a luxury — it's a foundation. The NW Furniture Bank fills that gap.

Who They Serve

  • Survivors of domestic abuse starting over in a new home
  • Families displaced by fire or natural disasters
  • Individuals transitioning out of shelters or temporary housing
  • Veterans and low-income families in the greater Puget Sound area

How The Old Cannery Helps

We provide on-site storage space for the NW Furniture Bank and make regular furniture donations to support their mission. Our manufacturers and their representatives have also stepped up over the years — contributing pieces specifically for families in need, above and beyond our own donations.

When furniture doesn't sell, or when we have overstock and floor samples that need to move, those pieces go to families who need them most rather than to a landfill. It's a simple idea, and it works.

Get Involved

If you have gently used furniture you'd like to donate, the NW Furniture Bank accepts contributions directly. You can also support their mission by spreading the word — many families in our community don't know this resource exists until they need it.
